Submission Guidelines

THE RISE – Teaming for Harmony, Equity, and Reforms through Intellectually Stimulated Efforts

TheRise aims to raise awareness and stimulate the community by leveraging the intellectual prowess of eminent personalities while engaging the youth to achieve sustainable development and overall excellence. It is a non-profit initiative. If interested, please contribute to drive positive change in society by sharing your valuable perspective in the public domain through Opinion, Research Article, Issue Brief, Policy Brief, Explainer, and Book reviews, hereafter referred to as ‘submission’.

Nature of Platform

It is an online platform carrying opinion-based articles, research articles, issue briefs, policy briefs, explainers, book reviews, TheRise surveys, video sessions, and special initiatives.

Who can write?

TheRise welcomes the luminaries from different segments of society and individuals with deeper thinking, who are desirous of sharing their perspective in public space for realising harmony, equity, and reform for the overall good of humanity.

Coverage of Issues

Contemporary issues relevant to society are covered. The submissions in any of the forms as indicated above should fall in either of the following categories:

• Education
• Science & Technology
• Politics
• Economy
• Society
• Culture
• Defence
• Environment
• Sports
• Spirituality
• Food and Health

Writing Guide

1. The article should be an original piece, which has not been submitted elsewhere.
2. Opinion article length should ideally be between 800-1000 words, which can go up to 1200 words in case it is the need of subject dealt with. However, there is no limit of words for the other forms of submissions.
3. Include highlights in 2-3 sentences giving a description of your piece at the beginning of article under the heading ‘Highlights’.
4. The submission should not be just a description; instead, it should be the view of the author(s), duly covering the relevance of the subject dealt with. The editorial team reserves the right to amend the contents of the article as deemed suitable.
5. Write it as you’d say it. Short sentences are always better than long rambles.
6. The article may have at least some counterpoints to the arguments made in it.
7. TheRise advises to use British English in submissions.
8. The language of the article should be grammatically correct and free from error.
9. The capitalisation should not be used in a general sense, rather it should be used when necessary.
10. Use of italics should be kept to a minimum.
11. Dates should be referred to in Date_Month_Year format.
12. The Chicago style of writing references must be used.
13. Author(s) are advised not to use AI, machine learning, and other algorithmic tools in their submissions to TheRise. However, if the use of any AI tool is inevitable in the submission, it should be disclosed, along with the name of the tool, the extent of use, why it was used, and how it was used. The author(s) should maintain the highest integrity and fairness in their writings and be transparent in their submissions. 
14. Author(s) are responsible and accountable for the contents published on the portal www.therise.co.in. 
15. The submission should essentially have details of the author in a maximum of 50 words, which may be used to introduce the author.
16. Author(s) should submit their good-quality photograph. All pictures have to be in .jpeg format, and submission text in .docx format in separate files.
17. The facts used in the submission should be backed by pieces of evidence and referred to explicitly.
18. Refraining from plagiarism improves the novelty and quality of the article, so please avoid it completely.
19. Provide Pictures, if needed, but these should be owned by the author(s) or the free pictures from any source, so that there is no conflict of copyright.  
20. In view of this being an online platform, the academic pieces as submitted in academic journals in the form of research papers are not accepted.
21. Do not submit the articles, already submitted to TheRise, for publication elsewhere.

Disclaimer and Responsibility of Author

The responsibility for the content of the articles published on TheRise.co.in lies solely upon the author. TheRise.co.in and/or TheRise will not be responsible for the consequences, if any. 

Deadline

There is no deadline. Submissions can be made throughout the year.

Send your articles/opinions by email to ideas@therise.co.in. Please note that the submission of an article by email means that the author has adhered to the guidelines and is well aware of the disclaimer and his/her responsibilities as author.

We don’t provide any monetary compensation to the authors. The platform is for motivated experts willing to educate the people through their knowledge and expertise.

The following guidelines must be followed for republished the original content of TheRise.co.in:

• You must credit the author as listed on the original article (ideally in the byline), and TheRise.co.in as the source, and also provide a link back to the specific web address of the article on TheRise.co.in’s website (not the homepage of TheRise.co.in).
