Applications Open for the Position of Editorial Intern:
Sarvoday TheRise Foundation invites applications for its Editorial Intern Position, offering hands-on exposure to the complete editorial lifecycle across articles, reports, opinion pieces, and institutional publications.
Internship Duration: 4 weeks or 8 weeks (extendable based on performance)
Mode: Hybrid (Primarily Online)
Office Location: Lucknow, India
The intern will be trained in the following roles and responsibilities:
1. Story ideation and editorial brainstorming
2. Topic Research and Background Information Gathering
3. Developmental editing and document structuring (ensuring audience alignment, logical flow, policy relevance)
4. Fact-checking, citation verification, and source validation
5. Line editing and copyediting (ensuring clarity, brevity, consistency)
6. Proofreading and style compliance
7. Detection and assessment of AI-generated content
8. Headline and title crafting, other metadata optimizations and pre-publication checks
9. Visual integration, content presentation and report formatting
10. Compilation, cataloguing, and archiving of Foundation publications
11. Editorial calendar management
12. Support in conduct of interviews and webinars
13. Interview and webinar transcription
14. Preparation of interview questionnaires and briefing notes
15. Newsletter drafting and content repurposing across various formats
16. Any other role that the supervisor / Director may assign to the intern.
Requirements:
1. Pursuing or completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Journalism, Mass Communication, Creative Writing, Public Policy, Liberal Arts, or allied disciplines
2. Strong command over written and spoken English
3. Excellent attention to detail
4. Ability to instinctively identify AI-generated, low-quality, or poorly substantiated content
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace Suite, and related online collaboration tools
6. Receptive to guidance and feedback
7. Strong willingness to continuous learning
8. Collaborative spirit and team orientation
9. Comfortable working in an online or hybrid environment
No past editorial experience is required.
Special Opportunity: The intern will have the opportunity to pitch one original article/story/commentary idea every month for consideration for publication.
Stipend: Unpaid Internship, but with future employment opportunities at the Foundation based on internship performance
